9-Day Luxury Tanzania Safari Itinerary

Day 1 — Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your private safari guide from Kilimanjaro Foothills Gateaway. After a brief introduction, you can enjoy a comfortable private transfer through the scenic landscapes of northern Tanzania to the vibrant safari town of Arusha, located at the foot of Mount Meru.

Depending on your preference, you may choose to stay at one of Arusha’s elegant luxury properties, such as Aya Sophia Wildlife or the charming Forest Hill Hotel, where you can relax in beautiful gardens and recover from your international journey.

In the evening, your guide will provide a personalised safari briefing, introducing you to the incredible adventure awaiting you across Tanzania’s legendary wildlife destinations.

Day 2 — Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, begin your safari with a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most picturesque parks, famous for its ancient baobab trees and large elephant populations.

Your first game drive begins as you enter the park, where vast savannah landscapes reveal herds of elephants, graceful giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and numerous bird species. Tarangire’s river attracts wildlife year-round, creating excellent opportunities for unforgettable wildlife encounters.

Arrive at the beautifully situated Elephant Springs Tarangire, where luxury tented suites blend comfort with the wild beauty of the African bush.

Day 5 — Ngorongoro Crater Safari

Today you travel to the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife destinations and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Descending nearly 600 meters into the crater floor reveals a breathtaking natural amphitheatre teeming with wildlife. This remarkable ecosystem supports one of the highest densities of animals in Africa, including lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, flamingos, and the rare black rhinoceros.

Day 6 — Journey to Serengeti National Park

Day 8 — Serengeti to Lake Natron via Klein’s Gate

After a relaxed breakfast at Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti, enjoy a final morning game drive across the vast plains of Serengeti National Park.

Your journey continues toward the remote northern boundary of the Serengeti, exiting the park through Klein’s Gate. This scenic route offers a spectacular drive through one of the Serengeti’s most untouched landscapes, often rich with wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, antelope, and predators roaming the open plains.

As you leave the Serengeti ecosystem behind, the scenery gradually transforms into the dramatic volcanic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding highlands, Maasai villages, and vast open terrain stretching toward Lake Natron.

Your destination is the remote and spectacular region beneath the sacred volcano Ol Doinyo Lengai, known by the Maasai as the “Mountain of God.” This unique area is famous for its striking landscapes and is one of East Africa’s most important flamingo breeding grounds.

Upon arrival, settle into the tranquil surroundings of Leonotus Camp, where you can relax and enjoy the dramatic views of the Rift Valley escarpment.
